Lord Leo Diogenes is an 11th century half-Armenian Nobleman from Cappadoccia. As a child he was forced to flee in discredit to Thessally after his uncle the Emperor was defeated at the Battle of Manzikert. At a young age he learned the trade of a potter working in the shops in Serres. Always though, there was a burning urge to return to his home and fight the invading Turk. This later led him to take up the study of war in Constantinople as a soldier serving in the Cataphractoi. For his service he was granted an estate in the Tarsus mountains where he now lives as a minor nobleman. In his free time, Leo exercises his artistic talent as a potter, where his wares are traded as far away as Baghdad and Rome. Also, his artistry has led him to associate with the local moneyers, where his is learning a second trade. Above all though, he lives as one of the rugged and vigilant Border Lords that stand guard over the edge of the Empire.
